Weekly Update
Dear ECS Family,
As you know, Monday, September 5th is Labor Day. We will not have school. Classes will resume on Tuesday, September 6th. Enjoy the three day weekend!
We are pleased to announce the release of our 50th Anniversary Commemorative Coin (see attachment). These coins are for sale in the School Office for $12 while supplies last. They are 2 inches by 2 inches, and come in a PVC pouch. We thank God for granting us 50 years of working with students and families to deliver a Christian education.
On Monday, September 19th, from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM I will be offering a knife safety class so students can earn their Eagle Talon Card. Students must be in 4th grade or above to earn the Eagle Talon Card and be permitted to carry a pocket knife at school. Pocket knives must be folding knives with a blade less than 2 inches in length, and students must have an Eagle Talon Card to carry them.
September 19th is also International Talk Like a Pirate Day! Pirate costumes are encouraged. Many teachers are arranging different forms of activities and assignments.
On Wednesday, September 28th, at 6:30 PM our first Parent-Teacher Fellowship for this year is scheduled. This is the easiest way for you, as parents and guardians, to get involved in the life of our school! As we get closer I will send out an agenda, but in broad form we will update you on what is happening at the school, and plan upcoming events. We will also discuss if you want to keep future Parent-Teacher Fellowship meetings on Wednesdays or move to another day. We are extremely thankful for all that our parents, guardians, and families contribute to our school.
Finally, I want to update all parents on what we are doing to help students excel. One need that became evident last year is offering some extra help/tutoring. So we are introducing the Charlotte Mason Classroom, a multi-grade group that will meet once a week simply to offer extra help/tutoring for students who might benefit from it (with parental approval and teacher recommendation). This is named after the famed British educator Charlotte Mason, known for her innovative approaches to education. This will occur during school hours, and we expect the first Charlotte Mason Classroom meeting to happen the week of September 12th-16th. Please let us know if you are interested in your student(s) participating in this endeavor.
That is all for this week, enjoy your long weekend and God bless,
Headmaster Batten
