Weekly Update - November 4th, 2023
Dear ECS Family,
Our Pep Squad/Cheerleading Team will have its first practice Tuesday evening. If you have an interested student and did not sign up on the initial form, please contact Misty Cork or Michelle Brown (email me if you need their contact info).
Study hall will be available to students beginning Monday, Nov. 6th and will be open 3:00-4:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in Mrs. Whiston's classroom. This is for students in grades 6-12. It is designed to be a physical space (with adult supervision) for students to complete academic tasks, such as prepping for an upcoming test or making up assignments. At times one-on-one assistance will be provided; sometimes students will work independently. This is a work in progress and will be adjusted as needed.
Parents are asked to notify Mrs. Whiston via email at jwhiston@emmanueleagles.com before noon each day if a child is to stay after school for study hall. Please use the words "Study Hall" in the subject line of the email and include your child's first and last name in the body of the email. If there is something specific you'd like for your child to work on, just let us know.
In the coming weeks, Logic and rhetoric school teachers will be scheduling meetings for the parents/guardians of each student as a means to make connections and do our very best to grow the minds and shape the hearts of our children.
The Creative Department (Photography and Yearbook classes) at ECS are sponsoring a fundraiser to raise money for expenses, such as the purchase of an SD card for every student in the program. The department is offering family portraits with a beautiful Christmas background (see below) for just $40. This includes the sitting fee and 8-10 digital photos. Appointments should be made in advance. Contact Mrs. Whiston to schedule yours today! Photos will be taken on Saturday, Nov. 25th, and digital galleries will be accessible no later than Dec. 5th. We know moms everywhere treasure their family pic for those Christmas cards. Make mom happy and get your appointment on the books now! Contact Mrs. Whiston to reserve your spot!
This Thursday is our Veterans Day Breakfast at 9:00 AM. Any veterans attending should report to the cafeteria, students will be called down to eat breakfast with their guest(s). Mr. Burcham is coordinating the breakfast with his guild, and we will be in touch with those who volunteered to bring items or help prepare breakfast. We are profoundly thankful for your support in this endeavor to honor our veterans. The Disputatio originally scheduled for Thursday will be on Thursday, the 16th.
In honor of Veterans Day, we will not have school on Friday, November 10th.
Our Christmas program is scheduled for December 15th at South Ridge Church. Students will receive more details on potential parts at their Guild Meetings on Wednesday.
Our Thanksgiving Feast is scheduled for Friday, November 17th. A separate email will follow this week, asking for families to bring food, and for some volunteers to come in that morning and help us set up. We will dismiss around 12:30 PM that day, kicking off Thanksgiving Break (November 20th-24th).
That’s all for this week!
God bless you all!
