Weekly Update - March 24th, 2023
Dear ECS Family,
I am working on the school calendar for the 2023-2024 academic year. That will hopefully be available in the coming weeks.
Our PaperPie Book Fair was a big success! Not only did students have access to excellent and fun books, but also over $1,100 came back to our school for books in classrooms and the Library! The most effective school libraries have at least 15-20 books per student. We already exceed that benchmark, and we are very actively working to grow our library and its capacity to better serve our students and families.
I will announce the top sellers from our Chocolate Egg Sale next week. I apologize for the delay in this, I was awaiting the arrival of the prizes, and one item in particular was delayed in shipping. I will also be distributing prizes to the winners of the Spelling Bee.
Our Easter Break is scheduled for April 3rd-7th. We have the entire week off, which is fitting for a celebration of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I’m very pleased to announce that our Equine Studies program will launch during the 2023-2024 academic year! Enrollment in this class will be competitive, and it will require some specialized equipment. April 1st there will be an Auction and Trade Day at Rockin E Ranch to help raise money for the Equine Studies program (especially for equipment students may need help purchasing). We will have a concession stand at the event.
Coming up, the Spring Concert is rescheduled for May 12th. We have arranged to have our May Activity Day at The Bridge Sports Complex. Standardized testing will be the week of April 17th-21st (3rd Grade-8th Grade; 11th Grade). We will also participate in a Pilot test for the Classical Learning Test (Grades 3-6) in May. You may have heard of the Classical Learning Test in the news recently, as three weeks ago it was announced the entire State of Florida is considering switching to it. We are excited to contribute to the CLT’s growth into more grades, AND to promote a viable standardized test that aligns with our values more closely.
Please make plans to attend our 50th Anniversary and Homecoming on July 28th-29th! We want to celebrate ECS’ long history and cast a vision for our future. You can request your free tickets here: ECS HOMECOMING TICKET REQUEST (google.com)
Finally, I would appreciate your prayers. At the end of next week, I will be presenting a paper at the International Society of Christian Apologetics Annual Conference. I thank God for this opportunity, and pray that He will be glorified.
In Christ,
Headmaster Batten
