Weekly Update - January 6th, 2024
Dear ECS Family,
It’s a new year, and enrollment/re-enrollment for the 2024-2025 academic year is open! Early enrollment runs through March 15th, and the re-enrollment fee is waived. We are in the process of setting up a financial aid application through FACTS, and I will send that link out when it is available.
The Legislature will begin its annual session next week. There are several important issues related to school choice we are watching closely. Chief among them is the expansion of the HOPE Scholarship to include families that were already enrolled in private school/homeschooling when the HOPE Scholarship first became available. The time to reach out to legislators in support of expanding HOPE to include all families is now, especially to help them understand how important this is as they caucus and plan priorities.
In the WV House of Delegates, Emmanuel Christian School is in the 70th District and Delegate Mickey Petitto represents it. Her email address is: mickey.petitto@wvhouse.gov. In the WV State Senate, we are in the 12th District, represented by Senator Patrick Martin (patrick.martin@wvsenate.gov) and Senator Ben Queen (ben.queen@wvsenate.gov). You might also live in a different House or Senate District, and it is helpful to reach out to those who represent you individually. The link to the WV Senate Roster is here; and for the House of Delegates Roster it is here.
Thursday, January 11th is the last day of the first semester. All graded work should be turned in on or before that day [please consult with your student’s teacher(s)]. Report cards will be sent home the following week.
Monday, January 15th is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and is a scheduled day off.
For existing HOPE Scholarship families, renewal applications for the 2024-2025 school year are now open on the EMA Portal. Please send us confirmation once your renewal is complete.
God bless,
Headmaster Batten
